If you have finished a diploma or degree and cannot get past the “experience required” wall, these graduate internships exist for exactly that problem. The Northern Cape Department of Sport, Arts and Culture is offering four 24-month placements paying R8 174.75 per month, and applications close on 16 October 2026 at 16h00.
The Department states the programme is intended to provide graduates with practical workplace experience relevant to their qualifications. All four placements are in Kimberley.

Who Can Apply
The Department sets two conditions that matter before you read the placements:
- You must be an unemployed South African graduate
- You must not have previously participated in an internship programme within any National or Provincial Government Department or State Institution
This second point is important. The advert states that failure to disclose previous participation in a government internship programme may result in immediate termination of the internship contract. If you have done a government internship before, you do not qualify.

What the Internship Involves
The Department describes it the same way for all four placements: successful interns receive structured work exposure and training relevant to their field of study, in line with the placement area, and are expected to participate actively in workplace activities, projects and capacity-building initiatives under the supervision of experienced professionals.
Twenty-four months is longer than most internships, which gives you a substantial entry on your CV rather than a few months of shadowing.
