Welcome to the Student Nurse Intake 2025 – Diploma in Nursing
The Gauteng College of Nursing is inviting applications for the Diploma in Nursing program, set to begin in 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to train at one of the esteemed campuses: Ann Latsky Campus, Chris Hani Baragwanath Campus, SG Lourens Campus, or Bonalesedi Campus. Eligibility and Application Process
To be considered for the Diploma in Nursing program, applicants must:
- Register a Profile: You need to create a profile on the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) Professional Job Centre system before you can apply.
- South African Citizenship: Only South African citizens residing in the Gauteng Province are eligible.
- School Leaving Certificates: You must be in possession of one of the following:
- Senior Certificate
- National Senior Certificate (currently in Grade 12 is acceptable)
- National Vocational Certificate in Primary Health
Application Deadline
- All applications must be submitted online via the GPG Professional Job Centre before or on 11th October 2024. No late applications will be accepted.
- Please note: No hand-delivered or emailed applications will be considered.
Required Documentation
- You will need to upload certified copies of your documents on the system. If shortlisted, you will need to provide physical copies at the selection center.
- The required documents include:
- Senior Certificate/National Senior Certificate/National Vocational Certificate or a statement of your Grade 12 results or final Grade 11 results.
Subject Requirements
Depending on your type of school-leaving certificate, you must meet the following criteria:
- Senior Certificate:
- English: HG D or SG C
- Biology: HG D or SG C
- Mathematics: HG D or SG C
- M score of 17 or more
- National Senior Certificate:
- English: Level 4
- Life Sciences: Level 4
- Mathematics: Level 4 or Maths Literacy Level 5
- APS of 27 or more (Life Orientation counts half the score)
- National Vocational Certificate:
- 50% in Fundamental Subjects (English First Additional Language, Maths/Maths Literacy, Life Orientation)
- 60% in Vocational Subjects (SA Health Care System, Public Health, The Human Body and Mind, Community Oriented Primary Care)
- Current Grade 12 Learners:
- Must meet National Senior Certificate requirements based on their final Grade 11 results.

Selection Process
- Psychometric Assessment: All shortlisted candidates will undergo a compulsory psychometric assessment.
- Medical Surveillance: Successful applicants must undergo medical surveillance, including a physical examination and verification of all submitted documentation.
- Work Integrated Learning (WIL): Candidates must be prepared to participate in shifts, including working on weekends, public holidays, and night shifts, as part of their training at Gauteng Department of Health hospitals and clinics.

- If you do not receive feedback within 3 months of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
- Successful candidates will be required to fund their own studies and sign a learning contract with the Gauteng College of Nursing.
