Job Opportunity: Cashier Positions (X2) at SuperSpar Midrand
SuperSpar Midrand, part of Spar Retail Stores Pty (Ltd) and a division of The Spar Group Ltd, is inviting applications for two Cashier positions at their busy retail location. These positions are ideal for individuals who are customer-oriented and can handle financial transactions accurately and professionally.
Purpose of the Position
The main objective of this role is to provide exceptional customer service by accurately processing customer purchases while maintaining a welcoming and efficient shopping experience. As a Cashier at SuperSpar Midrand, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring that each customer leaves the store satisfied with their shopping experience.
Key Performance Areas
As a Cashier at SuperSpar Midrand, your daily responsibilities will include:
- Operating and Maintaining Front End Equipment: This includes using and maintaining essential equipment such as the POS (Point of Sale) terminal, debit card terminal, and speed points. Familiarity with these devices will help ensure transactions are processed quickly and accurately.
- Item Scanning and Checkout: You will be responsible for scanning each item purchased by customers with attention to accuracy. It’s important to ring up items promptly and ensure that all prices and discounts are applied correctly.
- Consumables Replenishment: Ensuring that consumables, such as till paper and other required items, are replenished and available during your shift to avoid delays in the checkout process.
- Daily Cash Reconciliation: You will be responsible for cashing up takings, which includes balancing the cash float and ensuring that daily takings match the transactions processed during your shift. This process requires diligence and a good understanding of basic arithmetic.
- Adequate Change Maintenance: You will be required to ensure that you have enough change available throughout your shift to facilitate transactions without delays. This requires keeping track of smaller denominations and requesting change as necessary.
- Depositing Cash in the Smart Box: Throughout the day, you will need to deposit larger cash notes into the secure smart box, reducing the amount of cash in the register and ensuring safer cash handling practices.
- Product Care: All products handled at the front end should be treated with care, especially fragile items. This responsibility ensures a smooth checkout experience and avoids unnecessary loss or damage.
- Customer Relations: One of the most vital responsibilities will be developing friendly but professional relationships with customers. Greeting each customer, addressing queries politely, and providing efficient service are key to achieving customer satisfaction.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required
To excel in this position, you should possess the following:
- Educational Background: A Matric certificate is essential.
- Experience: Prior experience as a part-time cashier or trainee cashier will be an asset.
- Numerical Skills: Basic arithmetic skills are crucial for handling transactions and cash balancing.
- Communication Skills: Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate clearly with customers and team members.
- Time Management: Efficient time management will help maintain steady customer flow and ensure tasks are completed promptly.
