Job Summary
The Picker (Warehouse) role is responsible for ensuring that warehouse facilities are supplied with the correct stock as per requests. The successful candidates will also ensure the proper storage and handling of stock, maintaining the cold chain during the distribution process.
Key Responsibilities
- Picking pharmaceutical and surgical stock as per pick lists.
- Ensuring correct picking by product code, strength, batch number, pack size, and expiry date.
- Adhering to First Expired First Out (FEFO) and First In First Out (FIFO) principles.
- Minimizing credit returns by ensuring accurate picking.
- Verifying quantities of stock picked according to the picking list.
- Ensuring correct separation of stock for different hospitals and clinics on pallets.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the warehouse and ensuring no stock is left behind between aisles.
- Reporting issues such as stock picking discrepancies or damaged goods to the supervisor immediately.
- Following Good Warehouse Practices (GWP) and adhering to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.
- Participating in the Bi-annual stock take.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Grade 12 (National Matric Certification at NOF 4).
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Preference is given to applicants from Middelburg.
- A clear risk assessment and verification record are essential.
Key Criteria / Person Profile
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Strong counting skills, with attention to accuracy.
- Ability to follow instructions and solve problems efficiently.
- Capability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
- Familiarity with OHS rules, quality standards, and warehouse processes.
- Flexibility and willingness to work overtime when needed.
- Physically fit to perform tasks such as lifting and moving boxes, and packing goods for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills with colleagues and superiors.
- Clean criminal record.
- Personal attributes: Honesty, reliability, trustworthiness, and conscientiousness.
