How to Apply for These Department of Labour Jobs
The Department is strict, and states that applications which do not comply with the instructions will not be considered.
- Use the new Z83 form, available from any Public Service Department or at gov.za/documents. Old forms are rejected.
- Complete Sections A, B, C and D in full. For Sections E, F and G you may refer to your CV, but the Part F question on conditions preventing re-appointment must be answered and the declaration signed.
- Attach an updated comprehensive CV. Only the Z83 and CV are required at application stage.
- Do not send certified copies now. Only shortlisted candidates submit certified copies, on or before the interview.
- Quote the correct reference number for the post, and submit a separate application for each post.
- For online applications, state the correct reference number and post name in the email, and use the correct email address for that post.
- Submit before 16 October 2026 — 16:00 walk-in, 23:59 online.
Our step-by-step guide to the Z83 form explains each section and the mistakes that get applications thrown out.
What Happens If You Are Shortlisted
All shortlisted candidates undertake two pre-entry assessments: a practical exercise covering the post’s technical and generic requirements, and an integrity or ethical conduct assessment. Non-South African citizens and permanent resident permit holders with foreign qualifications must supply a SAQA evaluation report.
The Department notes that if you have not been contacted within eight weeks of the closing date, your application was unsuccessful.
