Gauteng Government Vacancies Post 1: Director — Risk Anti-Corruption & Integrity Management

Requirements
Matric plus an undergraduate qualification at NQF level 7 in Risk Management or a related field, recognised by SAQA. A minimum of five years’ experience at middle or senior management level in risk management environments, and a valid driver’s licence.
Competencies sought include leadership, planning and organising, people management, service delivery, decision making, report writing, risk management, project management and financial management, along with knowledge of departmental policies, government priorities, risk management frameworks, the Constitution and the Employment Equity Act, 1998.
Duties
Managing enterprise risk management services, including strategic and operational risk assessment. Developing and reviewing the risk management strategy, coordinating monthly progress reporting against the risk register, and training risk officials and risk committee members. Preparing monthly and quarterly reports for the risk management committee, managing business continuity planning and BCP governance structures, and overseeing disaster recovery. The role also covers ethics and integrity awareness and maintaining anti-corruption policies and systems.

Gauteng Government Vacancies Post 2: Chief Director — Roads Construction

Requirements
NQF level 7 in Civil or Structural Engineering or the Built Environment, recognised by SAQA, and registration with a professional body such as ECSA, SACPCMP or SACQSP. Five years’ senior management experience in a transport infrastructure or built environment setting. Extensive experience in planning and executing roads construction projects is an added advantage, and a valid driver’s licence is required.
The Nyukela Senior Management Pre-entry certificate, endorsed by the National School of Government, must be submitted prior to appointment. Candidates need knowledge of SLAs, construction contract law, the Engineering Profession Act 2000, the Gauteng Transport Infrastructure Act 2001, the National Roads Traffic Act 1996, the National Environmental Management Act 1998, COLTO standard specifications and GCC/FIDIC conditions of contract.
Duties
Managing overall programming, budgeting and reporting of capital projects, and overseeing the implementation of departmental roads infrastructure and capital projects. Monitoring project management efficiencies against organisational goals, rendering occupational health and safety services, managing road construction and construction quality assurance in the regions, and ensuring project standards and service levels meet departmental objectives.

Both departments require the New Z83 application form, and both are strict about it. Failure to attach a completed Z83 and a comprehensive CV results in disqualification.
- Download the New Z83 form from www.dpsa.gov.za/documents or collect one from any Public Service Department. Applications on the old Z83 will not be considered.

What Happens After You Apply
Shortlisted candidates for these Gauteng government vacancies undertake two pre-entry assessments: a practical exercise covering the post’s technical and generic requirements, and an integrity or ethical conduct assessment. After the technical exercise and interview, the selection panel recommends candidates for a generic managerial competency assessment, in line with the DPSA directive on competency-based assessments.
A maximum of three SMS candidates undergo psychometric assessments covering cognitive capability, behavioural preferences, emotional intelligence and integrity. Suitable candidates are then subject to personnel suitability checks including criminal record, citizenship, credit record, qualification verification and employment verification.
Agriculture and Rural Development states that if you have not been contacted within six months of the closing date, your application was unsuccessful. Roads and Transport gives three months.
