How to Apply
The Department is specific about the application format, and applications that do not comply are disqualified.
- Use the new Z83 form, obtainable from any Public Service Department or at gov.za/documents.
- Sections A, B, C and D must be completed in full. For Sections E, F and G you may refer to your CV, but the Part F question on conditions preventing re-appointment must be answered.
- Attach an updated comprehensive CV only. Certified copies are required from shortlisted candidates, on or before the day of the interview.
- Quote the correct reference number and submit a separate application for each post.
- For online applications, indicate the correct job title and reference number in the subject line, and use the correct email address for that post.
- Submit before 23 October 2026 — 16:00 walk-in, 23:59 online.
Our step-by-step guide to the Z83 form covers each section and the mistakes that get applications thrown out before anyone reads the CV.
What Happens If You Are Shortlisted
All shortlisted candidates undertake two pre-entry assessments: a practical exercise based on the post’s technical and generic requirements, and an integrity or ethical conduct assessment. Non-South African citizens and permanent resident permit holders with foreign qualifications must provide a SAQA evaluation report.
The Department notes that if you have not been contacted within eight weeks of the closing date, your application was unsuccessful.
Before You Apply
These posts are advertised free of charge and the Z83 is a free government document. Nobody can secure you a public service post for a fee — see our guide to spotting job scams.
